Angelic volunteers of a safety scheme are celebrating a year of keeping vulnerable night-time revellers in Windsor safe.
The Windsor Street Angels patrol the town centre and outside nightspots on Friday nights from 10pm to 3.30am.
Team leader Janet Wingrove, of Tinkers Lane, who has been an angel since the scheme started, said it had been an extremely busy year.
The 54-year-old said: "The response from revellers has been a fantastic and they always praise and credit us.
"They now recognise us and the work we do."
Janet volunteers as a Street Angel alongside working full-time in the medical records department at the King Edward VII Hospital in St Leonard's Road.
She added: "I wanted to do something for myself and give something back to the community, which it has enabled me to.
"We need to be out to support and talk to vulnerable people in need, like getting them home or just by talking to them."
PCSO David Bullock, the driving force of the initiative, said it had been a 'brilliant' year and there were now 30 Street Angels.
He said: "The take-up and commitment has been great and I am so proud of the project - it has been phenomenal.
"The reaction of the public has been great and they have been very acceptive of the angels."
PCSO Bullock said teams of three have done 55 patrols, helped 1,615 people and removed numerous hazardous items from the streets such as broken glass bottles.
First aid has been given to 38 people, more than 30 revellers have been helped to sober up or helped home, while dozens of bottles of water, lollipops and pairs of flip flops have been handed out.
He added: "We are full steam ahead and our future plans are to have patrols on a Saturday night as well."
The scheme is run by Churches Together in Windsor in conjunction with the police and Royal Borough.
