CHRISTIAN URGE YOU TO GIVE UP ALCOHOL THIS LENT

Launching on Ash Wednesday, 7th March,  Christian Nightlife Initiatives will be urging people to give up alcohol for Lent. Each week, 70 CNI linked projects often come across people who are affected by drinking too much alcohol at weekend and often help and support because of this.

During Lent (9th March - 23rd April), the group is asking people whether they could consider giving up alcohol - it doesn’t have to be a total giving up - it could be drinking one glass a week less or buying one less bottle of wine during the 6 weeks Lent period. Then with the money you save  make  a  donation  to  Christian  Nightlife Initiatives Network so that we can help more towns and cities continue and start work within the night- time economy.

As part of the CNI Lent Alcohol Challenge  there  will  be  a  daily Blog,  Twitter  and  Facebook  of challenging  and  inspiring  sound-bites from Proverbs led by Adam May, National Director of Development and Paul Blakey MBE, Founder of Street Angels.

Speaking before the launch of their latest initiative, Paul Blakey MBE, the Founder of Street Angels said

"Week in week out volunteers see the effects of people who have had a little too much to drink. Often though we hear stories of people, who after receiving help from volunteers, have decided to stop drinking or drink less leading to a healthier lifestyle. Even more exciting are those who have had years of alcohol addiction who decide to give up altogether. The CNI Lent Alcohol Challenge is a call to drink less for six weeks and invest the money you save into helping others."

To join in this initiative, email hello@cninetwork.org.uk (we will add your first name and town to the web site) and then send your gifts payable Christian Nightlife Initiatives to the Fairtrade Café,15 Crossley Street, Halifax, HX1 1UG.
