Just chatted to a lad who popped into the Street Angels cafe for a coffee. He shared some of his story and of his struggles with alcohol and his desire to get his life sorted and back on track. So many people struggle with alcohol - it is so accepted and offers in supermarkets tempt us to buy more and buy in bulk. Alcohol is good (Jesus did turn water into wine after all - what a great miracle) - but like all things in moderation. That is where problems start, when the offers tempt us to go beyond our limits to a place we would rather not be.
As with the Bible bit below from Matthew 4 where Jesus was tempted there are temptations all around - especially if you are struggling with something. The challenge is to live strong - to know our limits, to not give in, to rebuke the things (and the devil) that comes against us.
Pray for those affected by alcohol, pray for strength, for wisdom, for peace and for breakthrough - but prayer should leave to action, invest your time in someone you know who is struggling, signpost to those who may help - be strong for those who need str
