October has been another great month of moving forward and making known the great impact that local projects are making in around 120 communities across the UK and beyond.
We are also making plans for a Regional Leadership Team get together in Scarborough in January and a national SA-CNI conference in June.
Paul and Jean are now keen to visit as many local projects as possible (now Paul's wrist is healed) so please do contact them to make arrangements for this if you would like them to visit your project or area of projects...
It was great to welcome Blackpool and Fylde Street Angels as a new local branch of SA-CNI - they have a fantastic team of volunteers and management group - do pray for them as they move forward...
On Friday 23rd November SA-CNI will be praying for the work of Street Pastors as part of a Year of Prayer - please do pray individually and as you gather on that evening to pray for the work of Street Pastors nationally and locally to you.
Thanks to all who are making the difference in communities across the UK, Australia and Europe...
19-25 November is Alcohol Awareness Week with the theme "It's time to talk about drinking". SA-CNI have written a piece for the Big Society Awards around top tips for a safe night out with contributions from several local projects (this will be blogged and on our social media during the week). The week is an initiative of Alcohol Concern and they say about the week:
"One of the nation’s defining features is that people love to talk about drinking – but are we having the right kind of conversation? Alcohol Concern has a set the theme 'it’s time to talk about drinking' for Alcohol Awareness Week. This gives great flexibility to have all kinds of conversations about the health risks, social problems, stigmas and taboos associated with talking about the dangers of alcohol. It also allows local groups to focus on different areas.
One of the main ways we’re going to start the conversation is by challenging people to give up alcohol for a month in January. From AAW people will be able to sign up either as an individual or a team to give up drinking for a month. We’re going to ask people to pledge money or get sponsored to motivate them to stick at the challenge. We’ll also be providing people with tips and information on cutting down and how this will help their health, sleeping patterns and general wellbeing."
Keep an eye on our web site for tools to help you engage with this week...
